I would probably jump on the Lariat in a heartbeat if it had the factory ambient lighting. I know there are options to add it after the fact, but the fact that the factory option is now controlled through MFT makes the factory-like integration a bit more difficult, if not impossible (even if I were to try and piece together the correct Ford parts after the fact....not sure, I doubt anyone has attempted that yet). It's stupid to hang a decision like this on such a small feature, but I'm a bells/whistles guy, and it's one of the bigger hang ups I have about the two models
I chose a 12 platinum over the loaded out 13 lariat. They are both nice trucks. If the bells and whistles are what you want, you won't be happy with the lariat. The ambient lighting, power running boards, heated rear seats are nice. It is bells and whistles though. The Lariat is a nice truck. I'm a chrome person so I like the Lariat chrome wheels and grill and bumpers. As I said,I went with the Platinum because it was a 12 and 5K less than the 13 Lariat out the door.

Buy what you really want, then no regrets.
