Default Difference between 2012 and 2014 5.0

So I think im going with the truck motor for my swap. I found two at the junkyard. One of them is a 2014 with 42k miles. But the computer they use said its not a direct fit. They say the intake manifold, timing cover, and water pump are different. Does anyone know if this is going to cause problems? They sell the motors with no front accessories so I want to make sure my stuff will swap over. M.y truck is a 2012

Sounds like you are being a trailblazer here - I would check with your FOMOCO parts counter before I'd trust the salvage computer.

If it was me, I'd look up the parts they say are different on Rockauto and check vehicle compatibility.

If I had to guess, I'd say the block and heads are probably the same. You *may* need to reuse your intake manifold, timing cover and water pump if they are indeed different and won't work but I'd venture to guess that you could use the long block.

The newer 5.0's seem to be less prone to 'the tick' than the earlier ones so if it's not too much more work to install the 2014 engine, I'd lean that way.

Just my $.02
