Now you have me worried too.
My (recently purchased) 2011 3.5L ECB Lariat 4X4 has 75K miles and I don't have any previous records. I'm told it has fresh oil, but now I'm wondering if the front or rear diff needs changing. I'm also having a tough time getting over 13 MPG. Do I need to pull the plugs? I intend to get a lot of mileage out of this truck and I want to do the right thing.

Manual says lifetime on the differential unless submerged. And there is no cold weather "special operating condition" except for coolant, and the only difference for that is to use a 60/40 coolant mix.
According to the manual.

So I read a few things on doing fluid changes or not especially at the mileage on my truck. One thing that I read most was the "under normal driving conditions" basically that means on driving on the freeway at 60mph with no load/trailer when its 70 degrees out at all times. Yeah um in Minnesota -20 degree is common. So this is what I did and much to my surprise I am now glad I did.
Front and Rear Differentials
Transfer Case
Spark Plugs
Air Filter
Full synthetic oil now.
My rear diff had almost a 1/4" worth on metal shaving on it and was VERY dirty. The front diff fluid wasn't as bad but still dirty.
My TC was dark pink to almost black
Spark plugs gap ranged from .037 to .046
The truck just turned 41k miles and was surprised to see how dirty the fluids were and how huge of a difference the gap was on the spark plugs.
My truck has a level and 3.73 gears with AT Tires and I have never seen 19mpg on the highway. Today with 50 miles of hwy driving I averaged 20.4 and was absolutely blown away with that. I know I know its only 50 miles but have NEVER seen above 19 with any type of short or long freeway driving.
My Trans fluid looked good still and will change that next spring at 50-60k miles
here is a pic of my rear diff fluid

Its not bad to do that stuff but 50 miles isnt a big enough sample size to know if it really made a difference or not. I averaged 17.4 mpg from when I bought it 5k miles ago + however many miles the previous owner had before a reset. I reset it today and got 19.3 mpg on a 40 mile drive. I would assume I will dip back into the 17s after a couple weeks to months of normal driving.

I changed my tranny and diff fluid around 60k miles and was very surprised how nasty they both were. I do a ton of towing/hauling, so the frequent changes are cheap insurance IMO. I'll definately stay on the same schedule for both in the future. I'm changing my plugs soon and am interested in seeing how bad the factory gaps are, but I haven't had any misfire problems or poor mileage so far...
