I'm surprised no cel came on with that much oil in the system.

maybe the oil tech fills it up until it spills out of the gooseneck?

There is something about the eco's and waiting like 15 minutes after vehicle has been turned off to drain oil. I have seen it somewhere on this forum about them having a valve that does not let all the oil back into pan to prevent "Dry" starts.

That's for the 2015+ 2.7 with stop/start. Perhaps the 2017 3.5 as well, but I don't know. Certainly not the op's truck.

I can't think of a thing to ask them other than how long has the guy who changed your oil been working there? I can't believe it didn't come back up the dipstick and spray all over the side of the compartment, and with a turbo being right below there may have been a fire hazard as well. Oh well, you're lucky it worked out like it did. And for all the holier than thou fellows, I very seldom check my oil in the 10K between changes I run it. Maybe once in a while. But not a habit, and I've got 172k on my 2012 screw.

I do not have an ecoboost nor advice for this matter but thanks for sharing as it led me to promptly checking my oil! Haven't lost a drop in 3k miles! Well unless I started with too much! 😜

Hi, I have seen a few vehicles where the person doing the oil change dropped the filter and forgot to drain the pan. The only effects of the ones that I witnessed was that they ran rough and lacked power. The oil was up to the crankshaft on these. No damage was done to these vehicle's engines.

There's no chance that you actually had oil in the drain pan before you started to drain your truck? Sorry, I had to ask It's the kind of senior moment I might be prone to do and then freak out about how much oil "came out of my truck."
