Default Destination LE3

Before I pull a $1k trigger on tires I'm throwing out a call for opinions. The articles I've read say the LE3 is fairly new so not a lot of customer reviews yet, but I have the LE2 on there now and even though they are badly worn and appear to have never been rotated (bought truck used), they ride smooth and quiet and did just fine in the recent rain and snow storms. I don't go off-road. I haul stuff in my truck, but on the road. We get maybe 6 or 8 snow days a year where I live so I think the LE3 would probably be fine for use in light snow. I feel the inclination to get AT tires because it's a 4wd truck, you know....just in case. But practically speaking I don't think it's necessary and by far the most important thing to me is a quiet smooth ride.

Anybody think the Firestone Destination LE3 would be a good or bad choice for my specific needs?

Thanks and please forgive me for yet another tire opinion post, LOL.

I just replaced a set of Hankook AT tires with Bridgestone Dueler H/t 685's.... they have a great load rating, supposedly are decent in snow, and are super quiet on the highway.

My research about AT tires shows most have a large block tread pattern around the outside, and this contributes to a less than comfy and more noisy ride on the highway. The blocks increase turning force. Most AT tires also have a stiffer sidewall which will degrade your comfy ride.
Bridgestone makes several different Dueler branded tires. Mine were $850 installed at Costco.

I ran a couple of sets of the LE2 on my wife's Edge. I thought they were fantastic when new, but by 50,000 miles they got a bit hard and noisy. No regrets though, decent tire at a decent price, looks like it's just under $200 each for the 18" size. I think the LE3 is a good tire that will suit your needs well, an A/T would compromise fuel economy and ride quality for capability that you don't need or want. They're no match for a real snow tire in the snow, but we made it through a couple winters with them in place.

I’m sitting at Firestone Auto Care Center. Firestone LE3 about to go on the truck. That 70k mile warranty is attractive and they are getting me out the door, including an alignment check, for $862. I can live with that.

Not a bad deal at all. I usually end up doing the lifetime alignment at Firestone, they have it on special for $180 every so often, basically pays for itself after 2 alignments, and then I just get one every year as preventative maintenance.
