Default Delayed off fuse

Anyone know if there is a 5 or 10 amp delayed off fuse that (preferably) is a spare? I'm talking about the ones that keep power on until you open the door.

Thanks

What are you needing to wire to it? Fuse 38 (or very close by) should do it.

Passenger kick panel, look in your book for a fuse that is 38 or close to it that is labeled "Radio Accessory Delay" or something like that. I have 3 things wired to that one via Add A Circuit with its own fuse (so you don't have to worry about the current on that existing fuse) and they all work with key on and wait till doors open.

I'm in a 09 and according to the manual fuse 38 is a 20A Subwoofer fuse. Which I don't have. Is that what you're using?

Like I said, it may not be 38 in every vehicle. Look for the other fuses listed there and see if there is one listed similarly to what I described above and see if you can use that.

However, if you really want to see if that Subwoofer one will work (theoretically it could), get the Add A Circuit, plug it in, put a test light on it and see what it does and when it has power and when it turns off.

TJ - were you able to find an add a circuit that perfect fit the 38 fuse holder? I'm having problems finding one that will exactly fit.

Yep the one AutoZone sells fits just fine. I've got two in that passenger kick panel. One that is the 12V switch remote for my amps and also is used for my radar detector hardwire and the other is for the Raptor 3rd brake light to work properly.

I do remember it being a bit of a tight fit but it does work.

thanks fellas. very helpful. The mini fuse ATC does indeed fit, although for future reference to other electronic novices like me, the ATC fuse fitting and the shape of the OEM fuses are different. While both fuses are considered mini's, if you buy an add-a-fuse in the shape of the OEM fuse, it will not fit. The add-a-fuse picture above is the correct style.

Also, you will need two ATC fuses in the shape of the above add-a-fuse, since the OEM fuse doesn't fit in this set up. And, I made the rookie mistake of only replacing one fuse on the unit, and of course this doesn't complete the circuit. Again, the picture above is the correct configuration.

For my set up, I was adding a switched wire to a new amp, so I tapped into fuse 38 which is labeled "delayed audio". This keeps the amp on until after you open your door, same as the head unit.

Slider, are both ATC fuses of the same rating?

yes...I played it safe and simply kept the fuses the same as the rating for that circuit.
