My rear defroster quite working on my slider. My dealer said the only solution was to replace the entire rear slider. I had it done under warranty when the truck was only a year old. Hope you can convince your dealer to take care of it. Suspect you may find the only solution is a new window. Good luck.

My slider approved for replacement by Ford
I had my truck in for various service last week and one of my complaints was the rear defogger not operational. Heated sideviews apparently not affected, even though the dashboard indicator isn't coming on. Clouded up mirrors cleared quickly and light stayed off the entire time.
Any who....fast forward to the service call and the service writer needed to get approval from Ford for the replacement under warranty on my 2012 Screw with 18.1K on it. Just got the call that Ford says YES and the window is on order with a lead time of several days. Glad I'm not driving with a broken glass!
Anyway, the contacts aren't contacting...Last time I had rear defogger issues, it was on my 1985 Thunderbird Turbocoupe and the fix was to "solder" them back to the rear glass. Dangdest thing I ever saw...nice big glob of solder. They did it a few times as the connection was pretty weak after the repair.
I guess this one chalks up to a less than resilient design. I hope they have a new process for building these things so they last longer and you can use the slider in confidence so I don't need to get it repaired again.

Love my truck...Got it a Carmax with 13.5K miles on the clock and bought their service plan for 5/60 or whatever but also still have some left over factory warranty. Going to use that until it is used up and then use the Carmax plan after.

Had mine replaced back in the Spring. The window was redesigned. At first it did it every so often then it stopped working completely. Mines an 11 Lariat

It worked fine today. No issues whatsoever.
If it stops working again, looks like I'm in the same boat as you except, I won't have mine replaced out of warranty. Just too much money.

I'm going into the dealer tomorrow actually. Rear Defroster and Side mirrors not working. I have an extended warranty so, I'm getting the entire window replaced for $100 (my deductible).
Mine is a 2012 FX4 with 59k miles (stopped working at 55k miles)

Have you checked out Ford Parts? You can participate in live chat with our parts pros by clicking on the "Contact Us" tab at the top. If you'd prefer, you can call the parts department at your local dealership; I'm sure they'd be happy to help.

My rear defrost has also stopped operating. Called the dealer and will see what they determine is the issue (although I know it's not a fuse issue --already swapped a good one in and had the same result, nothing).
I find it a bit troubling that the entire windows are being replaced. Common sense says it's a short. I guess the dealers don't want to bother fixing a short and would rather order a new unit?
