AS I said uions at one time served a purpose but that has long since died off.. Today wages should be based on ability and desire. If your a valued employee it stands to reason you have value. Now then if you are a lazy union worker of course you love unions. In my non-union shop valued employees make 10-20% more than union employees, why becuse they are worth it. Lazy clock watchers make less and usually go to work for the union, (not all union workers are lazy clock watchers). Now doing away with the union label meant my employees get more and no longer pay 10% of their wages to an overstuffed bag of wind telling them to give him their money to get them better wages and more time off paid. And the union has no ability to hold the company hostage in the event one person gets fired for just cause. The state of California is tough enough to deal with, unions simply take.....

Wow, where to begin.

Unions serve far more of a purpose than to simply fight for wages. I'll give you an example, one close to me that happened earlier this year.

A co-worker of mine died, while on the job from cancer. It was a late diagnosis and quickly spread. He left a wife whom is disabled and unable to work, and 2 children, 1 with Autism behind. Virginia has a cancer presumption law in place for firefighters:

http://www.vpff.org/index.cfm?Sectio...m=208&titles=0

Under this law his family will receive benefits and assistance due to his passing. The nature of our job subjects us to all kinds of nasty stuff, most of which are carcinogens. Many, not all kinds of cancer fall under this law, fortunately his was. Because of this his family will be taken care of and his kids will be able to receive assistance with healthcare and their college tuition. Its a pretty big deal.

The IAFF, our union, fought for this legislation and had it passed. The even better part? Its applicable to VOLUNTEER firefighters as well, not just paid union workers.

So, as you can see, our union does far more to look out for the welfare of our members than lobbying for better pay. Do you honestly think a politician would make a law like out of the goodness of his heart for firefighters? Give me a break, it took years of fighting to get it accomplished.

If you still feel as though a unions purpose, has "long since died off", maybe you should tell that to the children of this dead fireman and see what they have to say.

So, your saying the only lazy workers in your company are unions guys? None of the non-union guys are lazy? Interesting. You use the phrase "my employees", are you a supervisor/manager? If so, what could YOU be doing to motivate the clock watchers to do their job? If the manager is simply allowing this to happen, then they are no different than the guy slacking off and just as guilty.

Listen, your against unions, I get that. Rip that decal off your truck, burn that sucker up and dance around the ashes, good for you. But to say that unions no longer serve a purpose is just ignorant proving that you have no idea what unions are capable of and what they are in place for. As mentioned before, enjoy your benefits, vacation and holiday time that union workers fought for.

I would not want to work for the union pacific railroad with out union protection. You ever hear the term "railroaded " it still happens to all workers at least on time in there respective careers . Ps the union is what created the middle class and I will wager to say most of us are middle class.

Someone mentioned removing the dealer's decal. What is the most effective way?

Thanks.

What it really needs to say is, "Made to cost you approximately $8500 more due to overpaid Union members."
I agree with you on this.
The union still has these places paying people that retired 10, 15, 20 years ago.
Then they have to make money somehow.
So, the price just goes up.

UPRR is one of our biggest customers when it comes to Bridge Spans. Our steel shop isn't even in the union. The owners got a letter stating that we didn't have enough members in the union. So they said they are no longer representing our company.

The union is like a Home Owners Association, they take alot, and give a little.

Wait until a hot day or use a heat gun, then take it off with a razor blade and use goo gone to take off any remaining residue. When I did it, it seemed to have a lot of residue remaining that was a b*tch to get off, but with a lot of elbow grease and the goo gone it eventually all came off.

Thanks. Can I use a hair dryer (no heat gun) and do it in my garage? It's 45 degrees where I live and only getting colder. Not so much of a flat, sticker decal as it is a smooth, raised dealer emblem (PITA).

Wait, are we talking about the same thing? I was referring to the flat Dearborn decal on the inside of the windshield. The raised dealer emblem on the tailgate is something else. As far as the hair dryer, I'm not sure. Do a search for "Dearborn decal removal" or other variations of that and quite a few threads will pop up. I'm sure one of them would address that specific question

Took mine off first thing. The UAW has been a parasite on the American auto industry for decades and I don't want their sticker on my truck. UAW workers are great...the union is a government sanctioned criminal enterprise.
