OP, don't get pissed with the stealership. Its there job to sell high and buy low. Been that way for 100 years. A Vehicle is the worst investment you can make ,,,period. It loses value everyday. All it is is a vehicle to transport you around. Boat engines are the same way. This is why when you buy a vehicle, you better think long and hard,,is this the truck I can live with for the next 10 years. If you can afford to eat a lose and roll a loan into another and make the bank and dealership rich then go for it.. But just accept the fact that all our vehicles are worthless. Keep your current truck and enjoy it. Why pay eat the huge loss only for another Ford truck, Its not going to get you around any faster or better and it too will drop the a rock when you pull off the lot!!

This might make you feel better. I called my salesman the other day, and asked what my truck's trade-in value is. Its a '13 5.0 XLT SCrew 4WD with 1,200 miles on it.

$17k.

Seriously.

The wreck it was in dropped its value, in their eyes, by 12 grand (he said without the wreck, trade-in would be $29k).

So... you could have it worse.

But that said, negotiate. If you don't like the deal, ask for the salesman's e-mail address. Take your time, and figure out a number that doesn't make you sick, e-mail him in a couple days, and let him know what it will take for you to do the deal. The first few cars I bought were marathon sessions at the dealer going back and forth for hours until everyone was miserable. When I got my truck, I found the one I wanted, test drove it, asked for the best price I could get, got his card, and walked. I e-mailed him a couple days later, telling him what it would take to make the sale. He e-mailed me a counter that was within a couple hundred of my offer, I went in the next day and signed the paperwork. Everyone was all smiles.

OP you paid way too much for your truck. I paid $29300 for a new 2012 loaded FX2 two months before you bought yours. You would have been way better off spending a few extra thousand and getting a 3 year newer truck. How much do you honestly think a 4 (almost 5) year old XLT should be worth? I certainly wouldn't pay anymore than $17k for a truck like that.

To me, that's a slap in the face! Especially when in the last ten months of pymt's all I pay is pretty much interest haha, so with my cash down I still owe close to what I financed.

If I would have done the deal..... I may as well have burned 11,000 one dollar bills for my heat last winter...... same thing! lol
This should give you an Idea of the ridiculous Mark ups they enjoy. They cry poverty but will bend u over in a heart beat and tell you how they are getting screwed, all the while they are sticking it to you. And that you're getting this truck at invoice price line of ****** pisses me off. Sell the truck on the street and have more cash to pay with.

When they ask me if I'm trading something before they give me a price I flat out tell them, no you are only going to screw me once, not twice.

Before you purchase a vehicle from a dealer, think about who pays the bills for that place to operate. They have high operating costs that someone must pay for.
Some people just seem to expect that they will have vehicle payments for life. This will be true if you trade frequently.
It is not mandatory and even if you drive a lot, most vehicles will outlast the finance term.
I determined many years ago that I will purchase new from a dealer, used from a private party. I find the vehicle that I like and then keep it for numerous years.

Well, after reading all of this with an open mind....

Thank you for the honest opinions.

I will keep my truck....continue making the small payments, do the "upgrades" as I want to .... and enjoy my truck!

There is no reason to throw away that amount of money. I know the dealership needs to make their money, even though I still personally believe 17k was a low ball (imo).

Either way, I do love my truck..... the new one can wait!

A wise decision. You will be much better off and as the payments go away there will be other things to enjoy.

Very wise choice OP!! Now your talking. Why give your hard earned money away when you got a good truck already. Good luck with your current rig and enjoy!!
