Dealers, IDS, and tire Reflash 2011
#41
The old module needs to be able to be powered up. It isn't necessary to install it in the truck if someone has the proper set up (16 pin break out box and power supply) to power it up and connect IDS to pull out the info from it. It does sound like, however, that if the old module is smashed up that it probably has damage to it's internal circuit boards and therefor the original info is lost. I still cannot believe that you cannot program the proper tire size and axle ratio into the new module. I will have to look at this further when I get back to work on Monday. I probably can come up with a 2011 module and poke around using IDS to see what is available. If I don't get back to you by later next week, go ahead and post on here again and I will receive an email notification and that will be my reminder.

Waking up an old thread:
Upgraded my factory FX2 18"s 265/60/18 to factory FX4 275/65/18"s, which caused the Speedo to be off (per my Garmin GPS) 3mph - Went to the dealer and the Tech changed the size (watched the Tech) but Speedo is still off 3mph. Brought it back and another Tech checked it and it showed 275/65/18 as my tire size, he then said sorry nothing else I can do....
Was wondering do I need to disconnect my battery to reset? Or is my only option to buy a programmer to fix this?
TIA

The dealer should be able to program those 275/65/18's for you since they are a factory size. I have attached an image of what the options on their ids using a vcm would be. I just went ahead and bought a vcm clone and updated my pcm, tire size, and programmed keys to my truck since I only had one... It was also an excuse to buy another tool, I would help you out if I was closer, but you could always go with a hypertech if the dealers keep telling you no.
