Dealers - Aren't They Hilarious?

Dealers - Aren't They Hilarious?
Quick background - on the General Forum, I requested opinions about having a black vehicle (on my daughter's behalf); she was very interested in an Explorer.
I took off early today and met her at the lot. She's 35, and can negotiate without her old man (I taught her pretty well at an early age), but I thought I'd just check out the trucks on the lot.
Sales rep naturally gravitated to me (quickly of course) while I just happened to be walking beside a Platinum. Here comes the sales/trade pitch.
Hmmm....okay....my daughter is with the F&I guy, so I have time to play.
In a nutshell, I was told how much better the Platinum was than my 5 month old (something like that) Lariat. Sure...let's continue....could be interesting.
Give me a trade-in estimate, sir.
25 minutes later, I'm informed that he's got a price that's "going to put a smile on your face".
$32,000.00.
Played it off just a bit, and said, "tad low, isn't it"?
He said, "well, the Lariats have $5,000 in rebates, so it's really going to be hard to move a used one when they can buy a new one so cheaply".
Okay...thanks. Let me think about it for a minute. Pulled out my iPhone, and looked at the current incentives. Lariats: $2,000.00.
Looking at my truck data in my signature information, y'all can pretty well get a good ballpark guess of what I paid for this truck.
I didn't give him too hard of a time. I guess that's his job. (sarcasm).
The only thing I did say, as I walked away was, "do you think I'm 12, and this is my first rodeo? I don't know how you sleep at night....$32,000 indeed".
Ended on a good note: my daughter was walking around waiting for the papers to be printed and asked what happened. I told her.
She said, "let's get out of here". Birmingham has 4 dealerships."
That's my girl.......
EDIT: Forgot one thing. Did y'all know the EcoBoost is hard to sell? I was just informed of that during that visit. Learn something new every day.

I got told all sorts of BS over the phone from a guy who sounded like he started the day before and didn't know a thing about pickups haha. The worst thing is his super strong New York accent made him kinda hard to understand over the phone

Not sure what you were expecting. If you go to KBB, your truck is worth between $27.5k to $32k for trade-in. Seems the dealer was in line with that offer. But what were you expecting, dealer isn't going to give you retail for your trade. And they never count what you added to it as far as accessories. They are in it for the money and only that. As far as him telling you the wrong amounts for current incentives, what you were expecting to find an honest dealer? Honest Dealer is an oxymoron.
Can't blame the guy for trying to make a sale though....

I spoke to a salesman who didn't even know the new 2009 -2012 f150s had 6speeds, didn't know what the appearance package was, and didn't know the FX4 has a locking rear diff.
