Labour intensive? It's a matter of bolting on a new bumper and painting a panel. After I picked it up I'd check for bumper alignment, paint matching and move the hell on with my life.

Oh C'MON. Be realistic! They would NOT replace his truck, nor should he expect them to. That is absolutely ridiculous.

You'd probably apologize to them for the inconvenience of having to fix your truck after they wrecked it.
Back to back world war champs for a reason.
At the very least, OP deserves a new engine.

But seriously, just because it was a dealership, they should somehow have to replace his truck? What If you were getting work done at a mechanic shop and he took it for a quick drive and got in a minor fender bender. Would you expect the shop to buy you a new truck? So why is the dealership somehow obligated to give him a new truck? As far as I'm concerned the dealership service department is doing their due-diligence without fuss. What makes you think their insurance would even approve of a new truck? They'd probably hit the brakes on that and say "uhm, why don't you fix that one?" I'm sure they won't cut costs when they know their *** is barely above a legal fire. I'm sure they'll do a thorough job in repairing the truck so both you and the dealership can forget about it.
If the truck had significant damage, maybe the circumstances would be different and they'd step up and replace his truck. But it was a fender bender. Diminished value isn't as much of a devil on your shoulder as people make it out to be. I had $6,000 in storm damage fixed on my 2011 and I had no trouble selling it for good market value, with full disclosure.

First I'm sorry to hear your truck was in an accident. Go with what you feel with the dealership. honesty is the best policy. I would ask for an independent appraiser on the vehicle. And also to speak to a reputable attorneys for some guidance. If your truck is done right there is many outstanding shops out there. Make sure that it absolutely conforms to the original specs of the vehicle and also OEM parts you be the judge and you can also have that independent appraiser re- inspect the vehicle. Also if you believe you want to get rid of the truck speak to them let them know what you want to do and under the circumstances maybe they would provide an exceptional deal and never hurts to ask. Good luck.

Good stuff. I agree with getting it fixed and move on with your life.
I remember when I was real little my dad had bought a brand new Ford 3/4 ton (his first new vehicle; 1982ish). It was white and blue. Had it into the dealer for some reason or another. Dealer called......"your truck fell off the lift". We get to the dealer and the owner looked at it laying on its top, looked at my dad, and said pick another one out. We walked around, picked one out, and drove home a different truck. Just reminded me of this story.
