Default Dealer gave me a choice...

between upgrade to leather seats or to dvd entertainment system for the rear. I have 2 kids so I like the dvd idea, but I think I can get one installed for about $200. My question is, have you guys any input on the OEM leather for XLT? The wife likes the way the cloth seats feel because they are very comfortable and the salesman told us that we will keep the same seats and they will cover them with the leather right over the cloth. Has anyone done this? If so, how does it look?

In your case, they will send the seats out to a local upholsterer to cover in leather, so these are not factory OEM leather seats. The quality and type of leather will vary depending on who is doing the work. Hopefully, they have one in stock that has been done as an example.

I think Ford offers as an aftermarket accessory leather seat covers. I can't remember who makes them though.

Get the DVD system. If it is the Dual rear headrest ones, they cost $1475. You can get after market leather covers on Ebay for a few hundred, but without heat/cool feature, leather can get uncomfortable. Too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. I have the headrest DVD's and the kids love em. Just my 2 cents.

i would go with the dvd system. depending on the type of system the dealer is going to give you it could be worth it.

Get the leather. The 2 kids will spill stuff and your seats will soon look like like crap. Spend $200 and get 2 portable DVD players. They can watch different movies and they go where you go. We like to camp and the portable DVD player is great.

The dealer said it is "dealer preference" on the dvd and he said it would be a ceiling mount. I might see where they plan on getting it done so I can maybe add some bucks to get bigger than 7". I have a 10" rooftop screen in my xB and the kids love it. I was just thinking the seats would be a more cost effective upgrade if the dealer put them in free and I paid the change for the dvd. I will call the dealer tomorrow to find out who does the install.

I second the leather option. Kids make messes and leather cleans up. All forms of bodily fluids will end up back there.
