I've been researching cat-back exhaust systems for my truck and have noticed a great deal of the installation instructions require permanent removal of the spare tire. Are there any systems that do not require this? I don't want to remove my spare, I also don't want to be obnoxiously loud. I was set on the Dynomax VT system, but it requires the spare to be removed. Any help would be appreciated. Please spare me the comments about the search function. I searched and could not find a thread on my specific topic. It may have been mentioned numerous times in various exhaust threads, but the life of a shift worker does not allow me the time to scan through countless exhaust threads looking for my answer. Thanks in advance!

I have a '13 SCab 4x4 with a 5.0. Looking to spend no more than about $700.

the flowmaster kit i put on my 07 didnt require removal of the spare...i removed it to make install easier and then put it right back up..it was about 700 IIRC

I have an MBRP XP series split duals rear exit (straight out the back) on my '13 5.0 and it is a complete bolt on kit. It does not require the spare to be permanently removed and it sounds great! My cousin also has the same system on his '12 5.0 but his split out the sides behind each rear wheel. Both of our trucks are Screws and both have our spares still in place, but I don't think even with a Scab you need to remove the spare with this kit. Good luck in your search! Oh and I believe the kit was less than $600 and is T409 stainless with lifetime warranty!

Would you happen to have a sound clip or video of it? We usually take my truck on vacations and I am trying to avoid cruising speed drone for 500 miles.

I just put in the Borla s-type and it doesn't require spare tire removal. Sounds awesome and is very quiet in cabin at cruising speed. Might be a little more than you want to spend though.

I've been looking at the borla system as well as a flowmaster force II and the MBRP XP. I found a site running 20% off of the flowmaster and MBRP so I can get either for just under $500 right now.

I don't but I can try to get one for ya when I have the chance! Compared to my dads old flowmaster system, the MBRP has NO drone, but that's really all that I have to compare mine to. I think his had the 40 series and it wasn't terrible but got really old on long trips

I have had a flowmaster super 40 muffler on two different vehicles, but neither was a v8. The one I had on a 4.3l chevy had a lot of drone. I would imagine it's worse with a bigger motor. I like the idea of the MBRP because it has a resonator built in and flows a lot better than a flowmaster. I can get the MBRP XP dual rear or side exit (my choice) from auto anything right now for $484 shipped. Is that a decent deal?

Also was looking at the Flowmaster force II. It's a 50 series muffler. 3 chamber instead of the 2 chambers like the 40 series. It's supposed to have less drone. It's about $60 more than the MBRP.
