So what is the difference between these and a more expensive kit? What bulb and color type do you recommend?

I was thinking 55w and 6-10k

35w is plenty, 55w is going to get almost everybody PO'd at you and is likely to draw the police to you as well.

Get the 35w with 5K or lower temperature and you'll be fine. The visibility is huge over the halogens with that setup. I suggest you re-aim the lights to be a little lower than stock to be nice to other drivers. Also keep in mind if you tow or carry heavy loads where the lights are pointing.

I've had that DDM set in our truck for about 3 years, before that they were in our mustang gt.

NastyFFX4 Thanks for the clarification. As I said, that was as far as I knew but I wasn't positive.

Tothemax, I would definitely go with the 35w. I went with the 55w originally and like everyone else says, you **** alot of people off with them and they cause problems.

I have them in my fogs and any vehicle I have ever owned without HIDs from factory. Haven't ever had an issue, and if I have, they fix quickly.

Shipping takes 2 weeks

Plug and play HID's don't offer any increase in usable light. They over-boost the same area as halogens, giving you the impression that they offer more distance. Instead, you get more scatter where light wasn't designed to go. Simply put, they do not offer any more usable light. DDM tuning HID lights are no exception, a plug and play bulb is a plug and play bulb.

Projectors are designed with the cutoff line so that you can aim them properly, get localized and focused distance both forward and sideways, without the extra light scatter everywhere, blinding other drivers. Projectors look much cleaner and offer better light, and you can do so much personalization with a projector retrofit. Are they expensive? Not really, you can do your own retrofit for under $300 with an entry level kit that is still better than a plug and play kit. Morimoto Mini H1 projectors are designed to fit into the factory bulb socket without cutting up your factory housings, you could potentially do this project within an afternoon.

I strongly encourage you to go that route and to not be one of them.

Do you have a link to that entry level kit?

I will disagree with you partly here.

I have had a PnP kit in mine for almost 3 1/2 years now and it does offer way better light over factory and projects it further. Not scatter but further down the road. I have aimed mine low and no one flashes but I live in an urban area.

Now,having said that, I have finally saved up enough and I am having a set of retrofits done by Billnivic in the next few weeks. I did this two fold, I want to black out and have custom housings and to get a projector in there.

It will look similar to this.

Had them on my wife's Accord, they were garbage.. pain in the *** to replace. they had faulty ballast and the bulbs would last 9 months top. you get what you pay for, Go with Morimoto 35w kit.
