Actually, quite the opposite. This was a big shocker to me. They usually don't break free on me. Now, as far as the width and hydroplaning, no surprise there if that is what you mean. I usually adjust my driving to match the condition ad this kind of thing doesn't happen, just not this day. They usually handle great in everything but snow. This is my second set. I won't go as wide next time though.

I was accelerating at the time so it is hard to tell. When it happened I would have sworn it was a tap from behind but I don't recall if there was anyone behind me. I assumed I lost traction during acceleration. I did find damage on my passenger side rear wheel which is conducive to the one car I knew about that I hit when I went back to the right. She hit squarely on the center of the wheel, not hard though. Enough to scratch the powder coating up pretty good.

Is that these 420s? Looks like Nitto's version of the Aquatread. Interesting concept, not so great in reality.

Yep, that is them. Normally traction is not an issue. I am positive it was my speed and acceleration that played the crucial role. But, since the accident I have found where the other card hit my wheel and although it doesn't look damaged other than a lot of scratching, I am going to replace it. Being a cast wheel I don't want to take a chance that it might be cracked or out of round. I am entertaining changing out my tread and wheels both to something better suited for my driving needs.

Oh yeah, I don't mess with those things. I remember my ABS kicking in so most likely I was on the brake pretty hard. I could probably have saved it before the car to my right hit my wheel and turned it more sideways. At that point my ABS would have stopped helping me and being on the brake probably made it worse. Of course, this is all speculation.
