I installed the crapy i1000 dual lens camera in my truck. I have a 2013 with MFT/Sync, and simply plugged a USB cable into the extra port on the back of the factory navigation touch screen. Ran the USB cable up to the mirror and plugged it all in.

One Plus to this installation, is that when you open the front doors, the touch screen in the truck lights up white to illuminates the cabin. This also activates the camera!

If someone were to get in my truck, I would have audio, and video front and back of the intrusion.

I got the 801 from Amazon today, and WOW! That video is nice and sharp! The camera is tiny and unobtrusive. I mounted it behind the rear view mirror and I can't even see it. I like that it's removable and I can watch the video on the tiny little screen. It was a breeze to setup. Let's hope it lasts a long time.

Where did you run the power cable?

It's loose now, but I'm taking it to my audio shop tomorrow. They'll run the cable along the top to the left, down the A pillar, and rig a 12V adapter hidden under the dash so I can plug the charger into it.

That's really clever. I didn't know there was a USB on the back of the head unit.

Here's a pic of the final install of the 0801.

Nice! After a few weeks I'm happy with that position myself.

Excellent directions. I got a different dashcam and have been happy with it - no issues with in over the past month (I did paint the front and chrome black so it is very hard to see). Excellent resolution too. I followed the video by the OP and tapped into #38 by the passenger foot well. I was happy to find there was plenty of room for a 12V accessory port and camera charger combined. The dashcam comes on with a key in the ignition and stops recording when the key is removed since it is on the same circuit as the radio.
