If it was only going to one of the wires instead of both, you could very well only have some of the symptoms (ie: remote start working, but white dash lights staying on causing dead battery.) I did my neighboors switch a few weeks ago and the only symptom he had was his white lights stayed on. His orange P still lit up. He didn't have remote start so I can't comment on that. It's 40 bucks and its going to fail sooner than later. I would start there. http://r.ebay.com/hMbGdB
I have the same issue currently on My 2012 SCrew Lariat 4x4 ECO w remote start. The remote start works when the battery is not drained... The white lights stay on over night and drain my battery every 2 weeks or so. Where can I find the info to remove the trim and change this out myself? I just replaced my turn signal arm bc wipers would not turn off and that was easy bc of a YouTube video.

Thanks in advance

The one Ebay auction comes with instructions on how to remove the console to change it out yourself. Very easy change out.

I have this issue right now as well. After doing a little research I was able to find the part number for that switch. After finding that a quick google search lead me to the OEM manufacturer for that and lo and behold they actually sell them by the single piece and not in bulk. On EBay that item is going for $38 with a couple ¢2 zip ties and some cheapo connectors. Direct from the manufacturer it is only $6.92. This is the link to buy it direct( https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=SW721-ND ) and by just looking at the EBay listing I've got a pretty good idea on what needs to be done. For me it wasn't worth the extra money for some directions as I am the kind of person that would rather figure it out myself. I will update as I complete it to see if this was the correct decision

Thank you, I was able to find a YouTube video of a guy who spilled coffee down inside his center console and needed to clean it up bc it was sticky when he shifted. I took the whole thing apart after watching it 2 times then spotted the part and replaced it. The problem with the original part seemed to be that the switch stayed compressed all of the time. I hooked the new one up and tested it before putting everything back together and it worked correctly. I thoroughly cleaned my center console inside and out before I put it back together and now the truck looks brand new.

You wouldn't happen to remember the title of that video would you?
{EDIT} Never mind, I found it seconds after posting this.

Try this one if you have not found it yet. It was extremely helpful
