Dash cluster lights won't shut off
#31
Same issue here. I changed the micro switch in the floor shifter it still happens. Lights may cut off when I lock doors, but will come out and they will be back on. Red "P" light is on, so I think it knows it's in Park. Any way to test ignition or clock spring?

Master Gunner
Did mine last weekend and now all is good-to-go. My sudden parasitic battery drain was a head-scratcher at the time; my first step was to replace the battery after confirming that the alternator was putting out enough juice. When that didn't solve the problem, I was about to embark on the lengthy parasitic power draw testing, but one night as I was waiting in the truck for my girlfriend and decided to take a little nap and turned off power and removed the key, when I woke up I noticed the cluster gauge lights were on. Googling this anomaly led me to stumbling upon this thread which pointed to the Brake Interlock Switch going bad.

I have a 2013 and my truck did basically the same thing. First time I took it in they said bad battery cell one was too high. Just 2 years old but decided to replace with Ford
battery. Got home and dead next morning. Jumped and back again, they did a drain test and decided it is the gear shift. Said that when put in park the shift was not communicating
it was in park and draining the battery overnight. Said $850 for a new gear shift But they are on back order and no expected date to receive. Said may be 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 months possibly more. Feel helpless, is there any requirement of time Ford has to come up with a gear shift.

Yeah, don't buy the shifter from ford. You can get the switch for a few dollars and splice it in with common bell crimps or buy a kit for $25-ish.

Google SW721-ND and you'll find it. It's made by Omron/Digi-key and may also be listed as part # D2HW-C201M. $6.22 and about a 20 min. installation the first time. Second time is even quicker. That picture is my spare switch.
PS -- I couldn't get the link to work for the "kit" on ebay, but it's nothing more than this exact same switch with 3 Bell (phone-type) crimp connectors and a simple sketch instruction page. It's very simple, you connect color-to-color. Just cut the original wires near the old switch and splice the new one in. Your wires will be a few inches longer than necessary, but there's plenty of room to tuck them out of the way. Just do it securely so the wires don't find their way into the shift mechanism.

Instrument Cluster
So I had the same issue except, my issue is ONLY the RPM gauges. My "P" for park illuminates, and all of the other lights in the cluster work perfectly. Only the RPM area and it also is illuminated brighter than the brightest setting for the cluster lights.
The IC(instrument cluster) receives a signal from the brake shift interlock(a small switch inside the shifter assembly - on console shifts it requires replacement of the shifter assembly). Basically what happens is over time the small plunger on the switch of the brake shift interlock gets mushroomed off and the switch contacts never close, and the cluster never receives a signal that the shifter is placed in park. The IC will not shut off until it receives a PARK signal from the shifter.
Tell your dealership to monitor the IC pid that monitors transmission range, if the lights stay on the cluster, the pid will read no signal, meaning the brake shifter interlock isn't making full contact.

Same issue with column shifter
Have 2013 Ford150 with shifter on the column with the same issue. Bought the kit on EBay but apparently it’s for a console shifter and no directions. Anyone have info on fixing issue with column shift and lights on dashboard not turning off when truck is in park? Would appreciate any advice or help. Thanks!

How's your ignition cylinder?
