I will get out and give you exact measurements when I get a chance. Definitely not as much as the F150 now that the RamBox is there, but when I saw that feature at the dealership- I knew that was a must have for all my tools and carry-on items that normally bounce around in the backseat- plus there is add ins for my rifles and fishing rods to ride in there secured. I don't have the wheel well humps to get around either- so that helps. I have a utility trailer for hauling lumber and supplies that I was already using, so it was an easy trade off for me. I'll get back to you on that!
I saw something the other day regarding the Ram box, and it reminded me. I sent her message today, and apparently, that was his design. Interesting how things work out. Guy works 25-30 years at a paper mill, and designs/patents the "RamBox".
Just thought it was interesting and remembered this thread.

Thanks for the great write up on the dodge. I am die hard ford but almost purchased the dodge because I could get more truck for the money. But my ford dealer finally matched it in the end. Honestly I know people with all the brands and it really don't matter the brand it's just luck I guess if you get a trouble free one. There are trouble free and major problem trucks in all of the big three. You just pray that you buy a good one when you do.

FWIW I own a 2014 Explorer Limited as well and it has been a complete disaster on wheels. It is, after all, number one spot on Consumer Reports most unreliable vehicles. "Haha". Right along with 4 other Ford vehicles "haha"
Dude, get a grip. My F150 had "rust" on every piece of chrome on it and it was like that almost off the lot. I am not going to hack on Fords. I owned several. Still have one. The one with the least issues was the Roush GT. The F150 was plagued by little ****. Honestly though- it's a truck. Ram and Ford are the top two hands down. I come here to check things out because I still like the Fords and appreciate a well designed capable machine. Both are what I would consider just that. "Haha".
The Ram met my needs for a good price and is turning north of 20MPG. Not sure if your buddies dad understands throttle is progressive and doesn't require his foot completely on the floor?
Not trying to be a dick, but honestly...

I think the Rams are great looking, I looked at them too. For me, it was just about familiarity. That may very well change in the future. So far new truck has been great.
