Default Custom FX4 Tailgate Badge Emblem (09-14)

I created a custom tailgate badge for my 2009 F150 FX4. The OEM badge/emblem fell off and left my tailgate looking sad. After looking into getting a replacement badge I was disappointed to find out that the local Ford dealership wanted $80 for a replacement. I figured I would try my hand at making my own custom badge and boy did it turn out SICK!

I've got nothing but compliments from everyone who sees it. They keep asking me where I got it and they don't believe me when I tell them that I made it myself.

I've had enough people ask me to make one that I decided to make them available to anyone who wants to customize one. Basically, it is a 3D printed badge that I custom painted.

You can buy the custom 3D printed badge here:

Sendai Design - Custom FX4 Tailgate Badge

I've also put together a quick Youtube video to show people how I made the prototype. Note: I originally used a low resolution 3D printer. The Sendai Design (Shapeways 3D printing store) version is high resolution and will not require the amount of sanding that you see in the video. You can check it out here:

Beautifully done. Love when people use 3D printed items on their car.

Well done. Looks great. I'd be interested in seeing how something like that looked with the rear camera badge.

Default Thanks

Thanks guys. Yeah, as soon as I can get my hands on the rear camera badge I plan to make one. I need to be able to see how the camera is mounted inside.

Looks great. don't know about 3d printing to much but would it be possible to make one with translucent material? be cool to mimic the Reese brand logo they stopped producing. something like this.

Houbezra - Yeah, the cool thing about 3D Printing is that you can make things with all kinds of materials. The material that I had done was called ABS which is a plastic material. I believe they have translucent ABS as well. Cool idea. BTW - Love the custom Ford Badge you posted.
