I just had a shot cut pipe from the cats and added 3 inch pipe no resonator with a dynomax bullet. Love it very loud. Cost me 130 bucks I. Have a 2913 fx2 5.0

When I first did my exhaust I just had a muffler shop cut out the stock muffler and weld in a Cherry Bomb Xtreme single chamber 3" single I/O. It sounded good but was just not loud enough for me with the resonator still in the system. Cost less than $100 total. I like my setup now much better, though still not quite as loud as I want. Check the new exhaust here -> https://www.f150forum.com/f78/2012-s...2/#post2679512

Did you do anything tune wise after removing the cats? Also, did you have them weld bungs for the o2 sensors to go back into or just leave them unplugged?

edit - now after rereading that, you may have meant that the shop cut the pipe after the cats so my questions may be pointless.

That is a nice set up. I'm a sucker for the dual side exhausts.

I may go a custom route. There is a good exhaust guy where I live. Just have to decide what I want to do. My goal is more flow vs. noise.
