Cursed or logical???
So I need to know if anyone else is having the same problem I seem to be having.
I've had many vehicles during my driving career and this F150 is the first that has had this problem.....it is a windshield rock magnet !!!
I've had it less than a year and my windshield has cracks in 2 seperate places (newest one came yesterday) and 1 rock chip. I've had other rocks hit the windshield but not break the glass and others hit the front of the hood and leave their mark there. Like I said, I've never had this problem before with my other vehicles. I had my Tahoe for almost 7 years and the windshield was still in one piece even after it was totaled out by front end impact!
So my question is could this be the added height to the truck that is attracting these unwanted heartstoppers? I have a 6" lift with 35s by the way. Or, should I just accept the fact that my windshield is cursed and I'm bound to have one of these little bastards come flying at me all the time.
I have another concern that when the time comes to get in inspected, do cracked windsheilds affect whether or not it passes? I live in Texas so I'm not sure if all states are the same.

My previous truck was a 2010 F150 that went through 2 windshields. Haven't had any issues so far with the '14.
I know in WV and PA you can fail an inspection based on cracks...if they are in your field of view it's automatic. Chips can be repaired and pass inspection here.

i have a 2.5 inch level with 33's, owned my truck for about two months, so far no window issue.
my problem is with the paint. i owned a 2004 dakota and when i traded it in for my F150 it had TWO chips in the paint (front end). my current F150 already has a few small ones. seems like the paint (ruby red) is much thinner on my F150.

8 years, no problems. Came out after eating dinner in a restaurant, maybe an hour, and windshield was broken. Looked about like what you would expect if you hit a pheasant or duck in the middle of the passenger side. No evidence lying around. No marks, no blood. A mystery.
Had windshield replaced and a week later a gravel truck I was meeting dropped a rock that put a quarter sized ding in the center of the windshield. Had that spot repaired with the plastic patch and it was nearly invisible. Traded the truck a month after that.
In the first month with the new truck, met a truck spreading salt / gravel on the highway in the winter and made a dime sized ding in the center of the SoundScreen windshield. Had it repaired with the plastic patch, still can see a little spot pretty easily that bugs me.
Three years later, no more problems - still has the little repaired spot.
Just coincidence and bad luck.

I lived through the 2 1/2 year Dan Ryan Expressway rebuild in Chicago. My Mustang's windshield looks like it went through a war

This is no exaggeration but within a yr of buying a new vehicle,I've managed to get rock chips/cracks on every single new car or truck I've bought.Even gotten rocks from meeting oncoming trucks.I thought it was just me!!! I'm so glad Permatex and others have come out with DIY windshield repair kits...been using that stuff a lot here lately.

I went 4 years with my 2010 and no damage. Had my 2013 for two months and got hit with a rock. Luckily it's the smallest ding possible that you can see and is on the bottom between the wipers
Here in NY I believe a crack will pass inspection if it's less than 11" long inside the wiper area
