Mine, when warmed up, is seldom more than +-2deg from 196.

My 2013 is doing the same thing - NHTSA currently has an open investigation open for the 2013 Trucks for the Lead Frame going bad. Link
They recalled some 2011 & 2012 trucks but not the 2013 even through there has been a lot of complaints. You can add a complaint on the above link if you want to document the failure with them.

I get it about once a day - I drive for a little over an hour each day. Sometimes it starts out in 5th after a stop light, and sometimes drops from 6th to 2nd or 1st on the highway (that's the most fun...)
Mine goes to Ford tomorrow - but it's not throwing a engine/transmission light so I'm worried they won't be able to reproduce the issue and I'll be SOL on diagnostics.
I do have a power train warranty until 9/2020 or 100k - so hopefully they can diagnose it and I can get it fixed under that.

If not - going to pay out of pocket to have it replaced

You can try bringing in video, shouldn't be hard to catch it if it happens once a day. I'd just make sure you document that it's really your video, simply by talking should do it or video the VIN after it happens.
They likely will just send you on your way if they can't replicate it.

And now that I have ordered a replacement lead frame, Ford has just announced a new recall.
February 11, 2019 NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000
Unexpected Transmission Downshift

Unexpectedly downshifting into first gear may result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000

Manufacturer Ford Motor Company

Components POWER TRAIN

Potential Number of Units Affected 1,263,051

Summary

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2013 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The transmission may unexpectedly downshift into first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.

Remedy

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 4, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S07.

So apparently they can fix it with a reprogram?

If unopened return it. Tell them you want a refund in light of the new recall reflash

Nah, I'll use it anyway. I don't think the reprogram is going to eliminate the need for the new lead frame, it probably addresses ONLY the abrupt downshift to 1st. After 150K miles I guess I got my money's worth out of the original one. Once the new program is available (April?) I'll get that done too.
