Default Cruise control engineering differences

Differences between my '10 F-150 vs. my wife's '06 Freestyle. The cruise switches are 180 degrees different in placement. The wheel design is basicaly the same, where as you have spokes coming off the horn/bag pad at 9&3. When grasping the left hand spoke in an overhand position while making a gradual sweeping left hand turn your thumb knuckle will hit the Resume or Set/+ button and excellerate to the last speed setting. On the Freestyle you will hit the Off or Cncl button. It's not a big deal. I'm sure I'll get used to it sooner or later. But shooting from 40 to 70 gets some unwanted attention sometimes.
Second issue is why did they use the same rocker switch for the electric door lock? ( left to unlock/right to lock) vs. (outboard to unlock/inboard to lock)

Not really. Its just hard to multi-task texting, coffe, cig, bear claw and singing Bohemian Rhapsoty at the same time.
Just sayin, Its hard for some dino's to jump from one horse to another. I was thinking that there should be some type of industry standard at least within the same company.

Car and truck manufacturers do dumb things like that because there usually different design teams and engineers on various models. That's something that always made me wonder also.

I worked in the automotive industry for 15 years and never could figure out why they did some of the thing they did. For example, making some common parts interchangeable between models.

At one time Ford had over 20 Ford Logos used inside of their vehicles. There has been a large reduction of part complexity over the years but agree it could get better.

As for the lock switch, my truck might as well not have one. I use the auto lock unlock feature. I also have not put a key in a door for the last 12 years thanks to keyless entry.
I have't hit the cruise buttons while turning mostly because I don't use it very often and I also don't drive at 9 and 3. My wifes Maxima controls are switched from the F150 as well. I find my self changing the radio as I am trying to set the cruise control, I have to use the cruise in that car because 90 feels like 60. I got out of one 6 point ticket with good luck and I am not lucky enough to do it twice in my life.
