Default Crappy chrome!!

Just wanted to vent a bit on the the cheap chrome on my truck. Got the truck all cleaned up yesterday and noticed surface rust spots all over the bumpers and the grille!! I wash it at least once a week so its not like the salt sits on it long. Its pisses me off forty thousand for a truck and the bumpers and grille rust from one winter!! Anybody else noticed this on the truck?

That sucks. I haven't noticed any on mine yet. But I live in the dry southwest.

Might want to see if you have a problem with rail dust if so dealer has a fix. I don't think your grill would rust since is plastic with a chrome finish.

If he has rust spots on the grill then it is rail dust.

I was thinking the same thing....but then again, I was also thinking, nothing ever gets rusted up in hot & bone-dry Bakersfield, CA; it's all the splatter from them damn bugs whenever I drive up Hwy-99 that's the real problem!!!

Seriously though, aside from using a polymer sealant on my truck every six months with my Cyclo Polisher; [weekly] I use a spray wax (any of the premium brands) on myfaux chrome trim, along with a micro-towel, to remove any residue missed by the car wash and replace the protective film over the surface of the vehicle trim. I also do this on all the black plastic material trim pieces, at the same time.

What I'm hearing is the newer VOC compliant chroming is a piece of crap, not just on Ford's but other brands also. There is a special 4 step process Ford uses to take out any contaminates and seals up the area - I'm not even sure if this will cure the issue.
