The sticker on my '12 Lariat 5.0 Screw was right at $43K, with rebates it was right at $31K. They're high now, but wait till end of year rebates or as you start getting mid cycle on the current generation and the rebates get higher. I normally would get a new truck every 4 years, how ever after losing a vehicle allowance from work, I no longer have mileage or age restrictions as I did in the past. My truck has close to 93K on it, still runs fine, so I could see conceivably keeping it another 3 years or so.

I feel the exact same way, The new body style hasnt truly grown on me even Dodge and GM body Styles, that being said my current 11 5.0L, is sitting at 60K miles and still looks and runs fantastic for a 6 year old truck, so my goal is too run it for another 10 years which will put me at age 35 and by that time ill want a new one

I was blown away as well, waiting for a new body style/ price drop before I take the plunge on a '15-'18 year model.

I'm at a crossroads myself. I do love the looks of the 18. My 2014 fx4 loaded with 37,000 miles is probably worth more, now than it might ever be.

As much as I like the body refresh and the Coyote hooked up to a ten speed transmission, has me pretty much drooling.
I know one year later they'll redo the interior which is the one thing that doesn't feel right to me. Idk what it is, maybe the backwards side vents...but something doesn't do it for me.
After a two week rental, I got used to it, but it was never pleasing to look at.
I know, I know, minor first world griping.

Financially it would work and I'm just waiting to hear Ford has pulled the plug on the V-8 for 2019 or 20.
I know we think that will never happen, but the Raptor happened....

I do like how they stamped F150 into the tailgate.

Wow that's a sweet looking truck! Yeah, that's a good point about the mid cycle refresh. I bet the current '17s will drop in price right as those are coming out but, then again, I would have a hard time not getting the latest and greatest if I'm already spending that much money.

In the meantime, I'm just gonna keep driving my already paid for 2013...we're fortunate that we live in a place and time that we have these sort of decisions to have to make!

Oh yeah babe, I was thinking about a new Platinum. But, after pricing I can get a nicely optioned new XLT after discounts, and it would cost right at what I paid for my '13. I'll just stick with my '13 for now.

It is like it's always been.
How much did a truck/car cost in the 70s.
Just the way of the world. And with what's going into these vehicle feature and safety wise. Not to mention they drive like cars. I understand why they're going up in price.

I bought my 6.2L platinum max-tow 2012 for 39k. It was stickered for 54k which I thought was ridiculous. If I build a similar truck (as close as I can) it would sticker for 65k. I'm sure it could be discounted to 50k. So basically 10k more in 5 years.....I don't plan on trading any time soon.

I like my steel bodied Ford, I like my engine, and the truck has been great. The extra electronics is really the only big difference and while it's cool, that is not worth the 25k extra plus my current truck to have as far as I'm concerned.

I am the same way, though I am sure an '18 would be a lot nicer, it's not $25K nicer to me. Especially when the current trucks been paid off for a while now. I also look at it, people are getting 200K+ out of the drive trains on these trucks. So if I keep it a few more years, nothing is really going to cost me more than a month or twos payment on a new truck.
