Corrosion on my factory 20"s... Who else????
I have the 2010 FX 20"s but they are the same as you can get on a lariat today I think. Mine have been through 2 winters now and are starting to corrode where the polished finish meets the painted finish on the wheels. I have read a couple threads from last year that explained the same problem (added a link because i know how to use the search). I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem? What have you done about it? Did anyone get new wheels from Ford? Is there anyway to prevent this?

Thanks.

There definitely is a few areas where rust can be seen through, I think next year I will plastidip those spots for the winter to help protect the running boards and bumpers. But in a few years I will hopefully swap out the OEM boars for aftermarket.

Yup, my 09 had that problem. the edges were corroding and pealing. Never worried to much about it because it was a lease and I knew I wouldnt be keeping it. Our 2007 Jeep Liberty also has the same problem. I am blaming it on all the crap they put on our roads in the winter.

I worked for a wheel company for a bunch of years and found this issue often. Typically, when there is insufficient clear coat on the wheels corrosion starts underneath the clear coat. This should be a warranty problem but if it happens after warranty has expired it can be repaired.
First you have to strip all the clear coat, then remove the corrosion and re-clear coat. Note, if you only fix the area in question I suspect you will soon have a problem in a neighboring area as the root cause has not been addressed.
