I have an 09 Fx4 and I'm having the same problem. Oxidation??

I have chrome clad 20". one wheel has a chip out off the chrome. is there any chrome touch up available?

@94centennial Sorry to hear about your chrome damage. Unfortunately there is no such thing as chrome touch up. If the wheel is clad at least the corrosion will not spread. If it is a traditional chrome wheel the corrosion will spread across the wheel like a cancer.

my 18s with 21000km on them are pitting like rust under the paint.

I went through this last year with my 2010, they replaced all four with no questions asked. I believe Filiform corrosion was the diagnosis. Good luck.

Sorry to bump this old thread to the top but it came up in a search. My 2010 is starting to experience this issue. Unfortunately it is not under the factory warranty anymore. I wonder if anyone had any luck getting this fixed out of warranty? Seems to be a defect. I keep these as clean as anyone could and this should not be happening on a four year old vehicle.

In a way this why i prefer alloy wheels even thou i run chrome in the summer months
