If this program already emits a WIFI signal (vechical update,navigation, ect..) can you not just hook up a USB broadbad modem to the port & use that as a WIFI hotspot without signing a broadband contract?

No. You have to have a wireless data plan to have access to mobile data. Regardless of how you are routing the signal.

No it uses your phone for internet, try to use sync without your phone paired and nothing will work .you really didn't think your truck has free wifi, did you ?
