Core charges on Lamps
I was going to purchase new ebony trimmed tail lamps for my truck. -I get whole sale discount- I ordered them but had to refuse them because, Ford is $50 core charges on tail lamps and headlamps. I explained to the parts pro I wanted the ebony trimmed ones because I didnt like the chrome ones on my black truck. He never mentioned a core charge to me when I was ordering them. I was surprised to see it on the invoice when they were delivered. I called him up and told him that I didnt have cores as per our conversation. Plus you never told me that I needed cores. Needless to say he nor the manager could wave the core charge, so I refused them. I told them if you would have mentioned that cores were due alot of wasted time could have been saved.

See? It works in monkeys!
Some of the cheaper "Jobber" lines have begun charging cores on lamp assemblies. Not all, but a select few.
Being in the parts world (Heavy Equipment and Auto), it's silly but helps some of them keep their pricing down a touch.
That being said I wouldn't buy a jobber lamp unless I had a vehicle at the end of its service life (like I did with my Dodge last fall when it had an encounter with an owl)...

Ford is charging cores to keep the lamps out of the aftermarket world. There are lamp rebuilders out there that fix broken ones and re-sell them. I get the meaning of the core. They just started doing this.

Help me out guys. If you are replacing the assembly what's the problem, you have the old one to turn in ???? Therefore the core charge is gone.
