I learned with my factory scorpions that 35psi is just not enough for the fronted weight of my 6.2L platinum. I replaced those tires at 32k miles because the edges were worn smooth. I have been running Coopers ATP's since at 45psi front and 40psi rear. I also rotate every 5k.

Your thread makes me feel good about my tire choice. If I get anywhere from 40 to 50k out of the Coopers I'll be satisfied.

I have been thinking of getting this tire when my current ones wear out. Its a toss up between the Coopers and BFG All terrains. But after reading this article I might go with the AT3s http://expeditionportal.com/where-th...eets-the-road/ Obviously take this with a grain salt since this isn't really scientific and I don't know if any company paid these guys to do the tests.

Brian can you comment on how the Cooper tires were compared to the stock Scorpions in ride quality, noise and wet/dry handling? Also when you upped the tire pressure did the ride quality suffer a lot? I was running around 42psi in my Scorpions but with my level the ride quality was very harsh, similar to a lowered car.

My stock wranglers were wore to the cords in 27,000 and my at3 are badly worn in the same pattern as my wranglers were with 20,000 miles currently on them.Something has to be wrong with my truck.

so you happy overall with the ATPs? Good in all conditions? I'm about to pull the trigger on a set. Can't beat the price

I drive on a lot of twisty roads around here, so 40k is a great lifespan for a tire.
I'm in WV so there's nothing straight around here either, lol. I think rotating every 5,000 was key for me.

I didn't have the Scorpions on mine, I had the stock Bridgestone Duelers. I don't think the coopers were any noisier than the Bridgestones and personally think the wet handling of the cooper was better as well. Ride was a little more harsh at 45psi. I've knocked it down to 42/43 and it seems to have made a bit of a difference.

Wink

June of 2011.

Sept of '13.

I have an '11 Lariat. I have two sets of the AT3's. In Sept. of '11, I put the first set of AT3's on stock Lariat rims. In March of '13, I bought a set of chrome KMC rims for the truck. I put a new set of AT3's on them. Then I put the first set of AT3's in the basement. They have about 21,000 miles on them. They have about 3/4 tread and even wear. They will be my replacements when the set on the KMC's where out. So now, I use the AT3's on the KMC's during the summer months, or until Snow hits. I bought a set of the Cooper Discoverer M+S tires for winter duty. Been real happy with those. So at this point I have been happy with all three sets of Cooper tires. I rotate them every five thousand miles or so. The first set has 21,000 miles and are still excellent. The second set of AT3's on the KMC's are at about 15,000 miles. They hardly look worn, well, you know? And so far I only have about 4,100 miles on the snow tires, and they don't look worn at all. I've been using Cooper tires for many years and have been happy with them. I really like the Cooper Cobras. Had them on my '94 T'bird. Looked good on that baby!

Thanks, thats promising since the tread of the Coopers seem more aggressive yet provides a quieter ride and better wet traction. I think I'll definitely be getting a set of these once my current tires wear out unless I can get a really good deal on the BFG AT KO2 (my other choice).

I'm on my second set of ATPs in 275/60/20. First set was replaced at 43,000mi because I hit something and cut one pretty deep so just decided to replace all 4. I have no doubt there enough tread to get the rated 55k or more. I also found that running at 40psi or so was better for tread wear, handling, & towing.
