Default Cooolant Flush?

My truck is a 2010 fx4 w/ about 24k on it. I know that flushing the coolant is not due for some time but while doing an oil change tire rotation and general inspection I took the cap off of the radiator and it had thick slime all over the spring and sticking my finger in there the spout was the same not as thick. Who else has has the same? When have or have you flushed your coolant? Thinking I may want to do one.

That's a neat trick,...taking the cap off the radiator when that is physically impossible because there is NO radiator cap on your truck.

Do enlighten us.

Really do you have a 2010? Do I need a photo to show you?

Don't know what the first reply is about. I definitely have a radiator cap on mine...

To OP, don't worry about that gunk. It's characteristic of the motorcraft gold coolant, and is just additives falling out of solution. I'll change mine in 30k, when it has a 100k on it. I've had the gunk since it was a month or two old..

Mine is on the radiator! Has a PSI rating and the hose that goes to the reservoir tank. Think that would qualify it as a radiator cap!

None of you have a radiator cap, you have a coolant reservoir cap.

Perhaps all need an education in automotive construction?

That's a radiator cap if ever there were one.

What do you call your oil fill cap? The internal combustion engine lubricity replenishment port? Tool.
