Converting from halogen to HID Lighting
Hello,
I have a 2013 F150 XLT SCrew with the halogen lights. I was wondering if anyone has converted to a HID kit, and, if so, has anyone used the Morimoto HID system. I am looking at them via this site:
http://www.theretrofitsource.com/hid-systems.html
I am looking to do the headlights and foglights. Does anyone have any experience with this specific brand / kit? Any other ideas or suggestions that would be helpful to me?
Thank you in advance.

Your probably not going to get the answer your looking for here unless your talking about doing a retrofit with projectors. Just the HID bulds in the standard housing is the wrong way to do it and will just **** off oncoming traffic more than it will make your truck look cool. Many posts about this Im sure.

We have WAY TOO MANY threads like this.
Those **** off everyone you drive by, and they don't do **** to add output because the light doesn't go where it needs to be.
Basically, do it if you want, what you linked is your best product, but don't bitch if you get ticketed or brighted all the time, because...seriously, they're annoying as hell.

Installing HID capsules in a halogen housing is illegal in every country on the planet.
In the USA it is a violation of no less than *2* federal laws:
FMVSS - 49CFR571.108
http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/cfr_20...cfr571.108.htm
NHTSA - 49CFR564
http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/cfr_20...49cfr564.5.htm
On top of that, HID capsules in *any* halogen (projector or not) are ineffectual, and even though there 'can' be a sharp cutoff line, misdistributes the available light causing short-sightedness at night (ruins distance lighting).
Here some real-world scientific information from a lighting engineer on the subject (happy reading!):

Bottom line: save your money for a real "upgrade" for your truck.
