Considering Rancho 4", wheels, and tires. Opinions?

I agree with this. That's where I got mine. Best price I could find anywhere (using their website store not ebay) and got the kit quickly.

I took mine to a shop to have it done. Paid $540 for install and alignment. You can get the instructions online to see if it's something you want to do yourself. Honestly, it didn't look too difficult, just time consuming. With some mechanical aptitude and a friend, I think it can be done over a weekend. Disassembling and reassembling the struts can be dangerous without a good quality spring compressor though. But you could prob take those to a shop and have the coil swapped for a minimal charge. If I weren't so busy working this 12 days on and 2 days off schedule, I may have been tempted to try to install it with a couple buddies (1 was a mechanic for several years and the other knows his way around vehicles really well too).

I'm considering the 4" rancho lift for my 09 fx4 6.5 bed. I thought I read somewhere that the lift widens out the stance of your truck a bit. For you guys that have the lift what are your thoughts on that?

I do remember reading that this kit widens your front track width a little bit. Then couple that with wider tires and wheels if you choose, you can end up with a pretty wide, aggressive stance. Or on stock wheels the tires can stay tucked and not stick out. I'm not sure if that answered your question though haha

I'm in the middle of installing the Rancho 4" in my garage on floor jacks. It's posed some challenges, but overall not too bad. Mostly just time consuming. Some of the hardware is tough to access, never mind trying to get a torque wrench on the upper diff mount. Rented spring compressors from Auto Zone, so the strut replacement wasn't bad at all. Rancho could do a bit better job with the instructions regarding which fastener to use where. Had to remove some when I realized later that the wrong length was in hand. Cutting off the crossmember mount was also not as easy as I thought due to proximity of other components. Combination of a Sawzall and 3" cutoff wheel got it done. Be sure to cut it back enough, I had to go back and trim a couple times to get adequate clearance.
Although its been kinda fun, I would have gladly paid $700 if I had a reputable shop on my area.
