So the sensor is actually left unplugged and replaced with the pot or it still stays in the loop and I attached the pot to each side?[/QUOTE]

It stays in the loop, the resistor or pot is adding to what the temp probe is reading based on a whole host of things. Look at post 767

You made me check the weather while sitting at work...

Sure will be glad to have this "HACK" in my truck when I leave shortly!

Can’t thank everyone enough for this mod. Living in South Florida, you know what I mean. I’ve had issues with the truck even though it has only 44 k miles. Breaks, water pump,3 batteries, electric locking rear end switch. But when summer comes this mod keeps me from selling it. The FX4 is loaded and I really enjoy the ride....this A.C. Mod makes driving it a pure pleasure in the summer. Cold A.C. and cold seats make all the difference. Thank everyone for the hard work to correct what Ford screwed up on.

Finally got my pot dialed in. Set it at 400k. This produces 39.5-41.3 center vent temps on max and speed 3 in 107 degree outside temp. In traffic it will hold right around 40.5. First time in summer I’ve actually been cold in my truck .

Thanks to those of you that found this!

In AZ at 107 degF it is pretty dry so you probably will not freeze your coil. But if you drive into a more humid climate, be careful. With an outlet air temp around 40 deg, the coil temp could be 30 deg.
And that's at high speed fan. The coil may freeze when you drop the fan speed down.

An update on mine.
Been running a 680 resistor in my 2013 since 2015.
I get center vent temps of 38-40, low speed, no recirc
Have not removed the resistor since installed. Have not had any freezing issues.
Amazing how each truck reacts a little different to different resistors specs

After reading all of this, decided to try myself. 1M ohm potentiometer set at 400k ohms does the trick for me. Here in Fort Worth, seems like if its about 100-101 outside I can have the vent temps around 40F while cruising if I have it on speed 2 or 3 recirc. Before I couldn't get the temps below 48F. I do have the suction line insulated with some armaflex in the engine bay so that helps with a degree or two. Thanks to those who figured this out, it really helps here in the Texas heat!

Good deal, yes using a pot gets you a variance since all of these trucks seem to react differently to this hack. Our coils are suppose to operate between 36-38 degrees, but some dont for some reason.

Default Interesting I wonder if

In this thread, https://www.f150forum.com/f38/new-ac...iginal-420334/ , the guy claims that prior to a compressor replacement, his ac would freeze him out. Now after a new compressor was installed, his ac performance is poor and similar to a lot of ours.

Just wondering if there were maybe 2 compressors, initially, that Ford used? But not sure how a compressor would adversely impact our systems?

Any one have any thoughts about this? I dont know how the compressor would impact the cycle scheme by its self.
