I think you can thank the EPA for that. Water based paints.

No, just no. That statement has no basis in fact. Many manufacturers had delamination(peeling) issues long before Waterbase paint arrived at the factories in 2006. Such as GM's huge, late 80's -90's delamination issue that plagued them for years. Older painters I work with still talk about those days. Because they, "have never made that much money since."


Improper application, low mil build, skipping steps, all to save a buck at the factory, is what causes paint issues.

I hope for your sake that dealer didn't talk you into that. That type of warranty issue would've cost you $0. The dealer would've been paid from Ford. And you would've ended up with a better finish on your hood that had a lifetime warranty instead of the 3/36k.
