Default Cleaning sticky off new aluminum - chrome wheels? What to use?

I have a new 2012 xlt 4wd with 1200 miles on it. Today when washing it, i found sticky something on the front rims, but nothing on the back rims. It looks like the wheel was spinning when it got there because it is flung all over different spokes of the wheel. Odd because i have been very careful over the last 3 weeks, no tar roads or anything. Does anyone know what to use to clean these wheels without destroying them? Thx.

Start with the most gentle cleaner and work your way up. If it were me I'd use a clay bar with detail spray. Once you get it off polish them up and put a coat of Collinite 845 on them. That will make cleaning them 10x easier.

Most likely Cosmoline. They use it to protect cast iron rotors from rusting. A little brake clean on a rag will take care of it. Just wash and wax after.

Try Goo Gone, and I had to order Collinite Wax online. I bought 915 for my Mustang.
