Plastic or metal makes no difference and will NOT cause signal degradation. Some people still wear foil hats.
All of my stems except one are solid chrome plated steel, I broke one installing them and got a rubber one because it was only 1 I could get locally.

My only advice, Do not use any metal valve covers.
Last time I did, It ended up costing me $400 to replace all the TPM sensors, as the valve cover chemically welded to the valve due to the dissimilar metals being used.
No matter how hard I or the tire dealer tried, the cover was not coming off. They ended up having to cut the valve to replace them.

The metal is not the cause, you live in the rust belt which IS the cause.

This is exactly right! The reaction between dissimilar metals will happen no matter what, but at that beautiful winter brine from the highway and is like a twin turbo for corrosion!

Kinda makes me wonder whats gonna happen to the 2015+ F150's. Aluminum body, steel chassis, steel bolts, clips and hell knows what else???
