Default Chrome Pkg - Who's got it?

I'm one of those guys lurking, soaking in all the good knowledge the forum has to offer as I'm planning my purchase. Hoping to bring one home by end of the year.

I'm between 3 2010 lariat's screws right now. One of the things my wife likes is the chrome package.. not the grille but the other bits, door handles and running boards and mirror caps. I can find all these parts at autoanything and others for much less than the charge for the parts on the truck with the Lariat Chrome Package... and that's if I buy the grille from Ford.

So my question is this. For those who have the OEM chrome package, are the chrome bits on the truck all peel-and-stick like those I can find online? Is there any difference in quality between the Ford parts and those which can be bought aftermarket?

Others may disagree, but my experience with the aftermarket add ons has been very bad. I had an 09 that I added the door handle covers to and had the first stainless steel set rust, I peeled them off and went with chromed plastic and had them turn a gold color after six months. My 2010 has the chrome package and so far I am very satisfied. Just my experience..

factory chrome is better. i have an '09 xlt supercrew with chrome package. i also bought chrome mirror covers by putco. it would probually be cheaper for you to buy the chrome package and paint the grill or trade someone else from this site.

We have it on ours and love it. The Chrome Package just dresses up the truck in a way that is not overdone........the grill, I think is the nicest truck grill out there. Some others look like giant gun sights or chromed railroad ties.....

I have it on my truck also but mine has color matched door handles which I prefer over chrome ones.

Good stuff... thanks for all the input. So far it sounds as if the OEM chrome pkg is the way to go. We both like the look of the chrome but would love to find a way to add as an accessory. I hate financing extras.

I have the 2010 lariat with the chrome package, it was a selling point for me. Really makes the truck look sharp. It would be difficult for you to replicate the chrome door pulls and tailgate handle and mirror caps and grill. OEM is the way to go.

If you don't want the chrome grill after market might be the way to go, the door tailgate and mirror covers you can get on ebay for 100.00 or so, I have purchased them for my mustang and other trucks and never had any trouble with them, putco brands are good quality also you can get the chrome step bars but the one that comes on the Lariat with the chrome package are very nice, but you might be able to find the same ones on ebay also good luck.

I've got an XLT with a Chrome Package but change to an Lariat Chrome Package grille.

I have the Factory Chrome Package and it is top quality. Dont do the aftermarket stick on crap, it never last. I would love to NOT have the chrome handles and chrome side mirror caps but I cant seem to find away to trade or find just the black handles and Tux Black mirror caps. I personally like the front grill a lot of other people dont.

Hope that helps
