Does the exhaust need to be cut for the tip to fit properly. Not stick out too far?

Oh I'm almost certain, these stock ones the pipe runs all the way through the tip and sticks out just as far.

Pypes exhaust has a nice selection of tips. On my TransAm, I found that oval tips made the sound deeper and slightly louder but that's a V8.

proximity to the rear mounted muffler on fbodies prolly had something to do with that.

slightly off topic, but can someone confirm that the stock 5.0 exhaust pipe on a 2013 truck is 2.75"? Or is it 3"? I'm having a tough time measuring mine because of my slanted chop right at the bend and I can't tell if it's 2.75" or 3".

I tried to measure mine the best I could and it seemed like it was either 3" or a tiny bit less. But not 2.5". My "slanted chop" mod is keeping me from quickly and easily measuring it.
