I have had this problem since the dealer replaced the tank sensor (dropped the tank) that was causing the computer to display ASU fuel/mileage data, and the fuel gauge to act completely crazy. HOWEVER, I CAN smell gas fumes when I get out of the truck. I did buy the 100K premium warranty service when I purchased the truck, so its a $100.00 deductible, but the tank sensor service was free for this repair. 2010 F-150 Platinum. Now it goes back as the A/C service repair (right side actuator) is defective. It worked well for a few days and now sounds like a B-17 is flying in the cab with me.

Hey guys, there is a TSB out for the fuel inlet. What is interesting is the information at the end of the TSB.

Do know if the link above works. It is specifically for the fuel nozzles at gas stations that cause damage to the fuel inlets on the capless systems. Before you stick it in, examine it closely. Some nozzles have a fitting on the end that can slip off and get jammed in the inlet, or worse the entire nozzle gets jammed in there. Even if you didn't realize the nozzle was bad, and felt friction when it was pulled out, it could cause some damage to the system.

Boy, just re-read what I wrote, sounds like a **** script.

When are you headed back in to your dealer, lukeb? What's the current mileage on your truck? I'll check out some ways to help.

Shoot a PM my way when you head in to the dealership, lukeb, and I'll get this into the hands of your regional customer service manager. In your message, be sure to include your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll take it from there.

THANKS! BTW - Now the Check engine light came on steady, checked engin oil and all is well, also gauges are reading OK. I took the locking gas cap off while taking a 100 round trip off, still "Filler" message. Read the TSB and used the additive funnel a few times, that didn't help either. Calling dealer today! BTW - The New dealer is GREAT! Extremely nice people who don't do service you don't ask for! Its just a shame I have to travel 30 miles to get an honest dealer when there is a dealership 3 miles from me.

Default Check Fuel Fill Inlet message

I get the message periodically. I spray around the gas inlet with WD-40, exercise the flap with the plastic fill funnel about 50 times, blow out the area and clean it up good with compressed air. Then I disconnect the positive battery cable for about 2 minutes, re-connect and the error is gone for another x number of months. I have noticed that my 2009 F150 will sometimes stall - at any speed -. I am told by some good backyard mechanics that the Canister Purge valve may need to be replaced (this can also cause the same message on the message center). Not that expensive you can find it online.

Thanks in advance.
Had same happen, both warning and check engine. Bought locking gas cap (autozone $15.00) and installed. All codes, lights and warning cleared. Back to normal, but now no one can attempt gas theft.

This has happened twice now with my 2010 XLT 4.6. It has 346,xxx miles on same engine and transmission. I’ve never changed a spark plug either btw. #4 coil pack went out about 5k miles ago. The last time a local mechanic said a wire needed to be spliced at the sensor. He charged me $10 bucks. I’ve tried the wad-40, positive battery cable, etc. anyone know where exactly the sensor is located? If I can find it it may only be a $2 fix. The local mechanic retired and passed away RIP.
