Check engine light
So the check engine light came on steady in my 2013 5.0L SCAB with 47K miles. It was time for an oil change so I had the dealer check it out while I was there and after 2.5 hours they tell me that both catalytic converters are bad. I was told that there is a TSB out and anyone that comes in with this set of codes (I can't remember them) will have both cats replaced under the emissions warranty. They also said that Ford changed venders and the new cats are supposed to be better.
They also said I could continue driving it until the new ones come in. Is this ok?
and has anyone else had this problem? if so how long have you had the new cats on?
Thanks

I vaguely remember something along those lines, been a while. If you could get the codes I might be able to shed some light on it.
Most auto parts stores will give you a free code reading. Or you could get an obdII reader that will interface with a smart phone to allow you to pull codes and erase them as well.
I use IDS but also use the adapter for my cell phone. 1 costs about $2,200 the other less than $20.

Yeah I tried my Harbor Freight OBDII reader and it was never able to make the link. It always worked on my other cars?? I will look over the paperwork and get the codes.

So would the light go off or would it always stay on? They didn't reset it at the dealer but it went off after I got gas. could be a coincidence but I would rather they not get into the exhaust system if they don't have to.

The code(s) will remain in memory and the light will come back on randomly to remind you there is a problem.
