Default Changed front pads/rotors - now brakes are spongy

Like the title says I just changed my front pads and rotors now the brakes are spongy. Driver side is cooking something fierce too. Has a very distinct heat band around the outside edge of the rotor. If I brake hard the pedal slowly goes to the floor, ABS never kicks on and it just creeps to a stop. Before doing this the rotors were warped, but at least it braked hard. Bled the lines and no change. Didn't see any air in the lines. Fluid looks good. Truck is a 2011 with 40k miles on it.

think they just need to break in more? Or I don't really know wtf to think at this point. Would hate to have to take it to the dealer for brakes.

I was going to say that it sounded like air in the lines but if u are sure u bled them then I guess not. Had a similar problem years ago and was just ****ty after market pads. Went with EBC Green Stuff and fixed

Did you rough the rotors up with some sand paper before installing?

Honestly it sounds like Air in the lines... I got a brake job done on my STi and drove out of the dealer lot thinking nothing of it... pushed pedal to floor and continued to roll out into intersection before my brain told me to grab the E brake.

For reference they are Hawk LTS pads (I've used these on many other vehicles with no issues) and Centric cryo flat rotors (have used these as well). Thinking the driver side pad has a high spot it needs to wear past. Otherwise I don't know what the eff.

This is what the driver side rotor looks like after a short drive trying to bed the pads.

High spot should not give you that type of pedal feel.

Did u have to take any brake fluid out of the master cylinder to turn the pistons in , spongy just seems like air, or low fluid. That top part looks like a different thickness of rotor or pads, never had this problem before just changing them.

Actually, an asymmetrical high spot would cause a soft peddle but I would be more concerned that I high spot even exists. I have charged a lot of pads and have never had a high spot on a good quality pad. Maybe they made this pair at 5pm on a Friday

You have air in the system and need to bleed the brakes lines. If you only bled the front then you still have air in the system. Need to do all 4 starting with the rear. I had the exact same problem on my old car after swapping the pads and rotors. Bled all 4 brakes and it was better than new. If you did this already then I'm not sure.

Also what method did you use to bleed the lines? Maybe it it wasn't done correctly.

I think you may have boiled the fluid while trying to bed-in the pads. I've had a few trucks do this in the past. Bleed the **** out of it starting with the passenger side rear. You basically want to end up with all new fluid. It still may take some time but the brakes will eventually come back.
