Default Cervinis Ram Air Hood Review

Hello guys,

As you know there has been a lot of members debating, discussing F150 Ram Air hoods and the pros and cons.

In particular a lot of the focus has been on Cervinis 09-14 Type IV Ram Air Hood Part #1212.

See photo link:

http://www.cervinis.com/09-14-f150-t...ml#prettyPhoto

For my review I will focus on this model:

Many people, myself included; have been concerned that this specific Cervinis model does not have an enclosed channel (under the hood) that funnels the air from the hood opening into or towards the air intake.

Currently the design under the hood has a (raised lining) (not a enclosed channel) that directs the air brought in from the Ram Air towards the air intake. Its important to make this distinction as there is a difference (IMO) in terms of a functional Ram Air system.

I will say that owners I've spoken to are okay with the current design but all generally agree that an (enclosed channel) attached to the under side of the hood, responsible for directing the air to the intake would preferable.

I will also say that speaking with members that many are on the fence when deciding to purchase the Cervinis 09-14 Type IV Ram Air Hood because of their viewpoint of the functional Ram Air design or lack there of.

GOODNEWS:

Yesterday I spoke with Jim who is involved and heads up Operations and Design at Cervinis. He has agreed to provide me with a pre-production prototype enclosed channel for this model of hood.

I'll be sure to share some before and after pictures and share my thoughts asap.

I hope you guys find this information helpful.

Cheers~!

Hi DonTas,

I thought you'd be happy to see that. I'll be posting a pic of the new design shortly. Also, and you'll like this, they've done some testing on the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost with great feedback.

P.S nice mods on your 2013 F150 FX4~!

This is awesome news. I was always a little bit skeptical on the design of the underside of this hood vs. other hoods. I'm curious to see what it looks like!

Thank you

Absolutely. The guys at Cervinis have been very supportive and understanding.

P Funk, do you have a good picture of how your hood looks on your rig?

All I have right now are these pics from an older post. If you need better ones, it will have to wait until next week as the family and I are going out of town tomorrow morning. Let me know if you want some better pics.

More is always better, and I'm guessing you've probably added a few new toys..right? LOL Your truck is looking sick, really nice mods. Looks like you may have add a small lift. One of the last photo's cracks me up. It looks like you have a make shift camper added but its just your neighbour garden shed in the background. LOL

With your Cervinis did you add, order mesh for the Ram Air or was it included?

You're right...more is always better!. The only new toy I have added since is the upgrade from the halogen lighting system to the projector headlamps with the C-Bar LED switchback light. You can find out about it here:

https://www.f150forum.com/f38/new-headlights-305162/

I do have an Autospring 2" Leveling kit on the truck......2" spacers up front, 3" blocks in the rear. I also see the pic where you reference as if I have a make shift camper added....that is hilarious, as, I have never looked at it that way.....too funny. Also, thanks for the compliments. I will get some new and better pics of the hood when I return next week.

Tight rig. Your evil, your rig is making me think about more upgrades.

I know you love lights so maybe think about rear LED third brake light from Recon?

P.S I'll have some new Cervinis pictures up tomorrow~!
