I wanted to try wrapping the trim pieces next to the radio and then decided to mess with the door panels and paint the airbag black.

Did you pull them all the way out to wrap or do it in place? I scratched mine and would like to do this.

if you used trim dye on the airbag cover you should be ok.

YES I used Dupli-color Vinyl paint.
