CEL 0300 Random Misfire Detected
It is cold up here in MN so I remote started my truck this afternoon. When I climbed in, I revved the engine a few times before switching the key on.
When I turned the key on, the CEL was on. I scanned it with my tuner and it was 0300 Random Misfire Detected.
Could revving my engine before turning the key do this? I have never done this before.
I just got back to town after a week gone so the truck has sat for a week, but I did put 100 miles on today before the light came on.
I cleared the code and will monitor the truck. Switching from 5star tune to stock in case I have to take it in.
Any thoughts?

No. I had no problems on the highway after the light came on. Was not exhibiting anything alerting me to think there was an actual misfire in the engine.

I would say do like you're doing and put it on stock and if the light comes back on take it in. Revving before tuning the key on definitely shouldn't cause a misfire, or a false misfire code or anything.
As new as your truck is the only thing I can think of that might cause a random miss is a tank of bad gas.. so I'd also recommend getting gas at a different station to see if it clears up if you change brands.

Okay. I was trying to go to the only Exxon station in town for my fuel, but I can go elsewhere.
I've only done about 2 tanks of Exxon so far. The station was shut down for quite a while so that could be it!

I pretty much only use Shell, but mostly because the station is new and I know the in ground tanks and clean and have good seals and all. I stay away from the older looking ones, and if the filling truck is either currently filling or just left, go somewhere else cause when they pour the gas from the truck to the tanks it stirs up all kinds of sediments at the bottom of the tanks that then gets pumped out to your vehicle. Another thing to look for is if the spot where the pumps and take are is lower than the surrounding areas the water will collect and is more likely to get into the gas, which is bad news for your truck too.

Right. I used to work at a gas station and avoid stations that are currently refilling. I guess I'll look for a newer station.
Does anyone use Costco gas?
