Default CB Installation

I have a 2009 F150 Supercab 4X4 that i want to install a CB in. I want to attach the antenna mount to my tool box in the bed of the truck. I can't seem to find an easy way to get the coax into the cab without drilling any holes. Any suggestions?

Open your door and remove the sill plate. See if there is a rubber grommet you can pass it through.

Yes, crawl underneath and you'll see the removable grommet underneath the sill plate. Also, you can view pictures I posted of my installation 2 yrs ago linked here with that grommet shown in one fuzzy shot...

We've got the same cab config, and I need to remove my antenna at times, so I got a "Lil Will" magnet mount, and stick it right above the high mount stop light on the roof. I just ran the coax thru the rear door weatherstripping, and just close the door. No problem for a few years now. I set up my SWRs once I placed the antenna the first time, and as long as I stick it the same spot each time, I'm good to go.
What size is your CB, brand, and where did you mount it? I used one of those little Midlands, and modified the cubby in the centre stack to mount it, and use a remote speaker stuffed under the drivers seat. I've been told it sounds good.

Attach it to your side fender. the antenna mounts between the hood and fender. I have my uhf (cb) mounted in my centre console. Very professional.

Mounting the radio is no problem. the problem is getting the coax into the cab without any water leaks.

Run the cable thru the back can vent. Make sure you put a drip loop in the cable.

I ran my VHF coax through the rubber grommet in the firewall above the brake pedal. Drilled a hole in the rubber and cut a slit down to the hole for the cable to slide so I didn't have to fit the cable end through the rubber.

I realize that a fender mount is probably easier to do but I want to mount the antenna on the center of my tool box for better, more even signal output.
