Default Cartridge Fuse Replacement

Does anyone know which fuse type is compatible with the "cartridge" fuses that are referred to in the manual? These are the boxy fuses that can be found in the engine bay fuse box.

Here's what the fuse looks like:

I bought a JCASE fuse from a local shop thinking it would fit but unfortunately it does not; it lacks those two vertical ridges along the side.

There seem to be several different types of fuses that look very, very similar but have slightly different casings: JCASE, MCASE, PAL, MAXI

When I search on an auto parts sites they say that Bussman fuses will work (pic below). But the casing is also lacking the two ribs and looks very similar to a JCASE. They're also not cheap. Over $16 CAD (shipped) from Amazon for a single fuse!

Can anyone tell me definitively which fuses will work as replacements for the OEM cartridge fuses?

Not near my truck atm, do your existing ones say anything on them that would help?

So I lied, there is a marking on the side of the fuse that says: E530

Found the part on Ford's parts site: https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/fuse-6294897-1

Part #: 14526H

$27 + $7.99 shipping in USD

The photo of the fuse says "C412" so I think it's just a production run stamp.

Of course, no shipping to Canada. So I called a local dealer and he says he has 10 in stock at 87 cents each! On my way to find out if true...

Wow I'm very pleasantly surprised that these fuses were so much cheaper at my local dealer than the US online parts site. I got a dozen fuses in a baggie for $8 and change. I just assumed the dealer would be a ripoff but at this price there's not much point in looking for a different source. Hope this helps someone someday. Case closed.

They should be short J case cartridge fuses. And you say they didn't fit? Or did they just look different? Did the lack of ridges prevent it from going in? Just wondering

Yea the shape of the fuse is slightly different and those ridges (or lack of) were a problem. I don't know why Ford has to go with a non-standard fuse size but, again, the price of these fuses at the dealer were so cheap that I'm no longer bothered by it.

I'm using FMX Bussmann fuses and there are low profile and standard height but both work. They're about $4.50 from Autozone or buy them bulk from Amazon.

I've bought a kit of them and they work just great for my 2017 F-150.

So I lost the clear cover to one of those square "maxi" type fuses. Unsure if the type of fuses from the auto parts store would fit, and pretty pricey at $7 or more for just three fuses (or one fuse for $3) I went to the salvage and got some. Decided to just get one spare fuse for each size. I paid just $1/ea, and I'm sure I still overpaid lol.

BTW - two of the "maxi" fuses in my under hood fuse box are taller than the rest. Fuse #67 and #73. Is that normal? Since I bought my truck used I'm not sure if someone replaced them with longer fuses or if these are OEM.

Edit - Checked out a friend's truck at work, and none of his maxi type fuses were taller than the other maxi type fuses, so I replaced them with normal size maxi fuses. Plus, with those taller style ones my fuse box lid wouldn't close in the latched position, so at least it does now.

I was curious as to what fuse assortment I would need for my 2012 and found the majority of fuses are the low profile mini blade and low profile Jcase.
Thought I would pass this along.
I found this assortment kit 0094055Z from Littlefuse at my local Menards for $14.
