Default NAV Request

My new F150 Screw EB is being built but I just drove a new 2012 Edge with the same navigation unit. I already am very disappointed in how it works. I have a 2007 BMW 530i with NAV and love it. With the iDrive system, all features of the NAV are available while you drive. That means you can enter an address, or search for a gas station or place to eat while zipping along the interstate. From what I tried, the Ford NAV doesn't allow this once you are in motion. Right? If this is the case, has anyone found a "workaround" this feature? My friend has a similar NAV in his Lexus and it is a pin in the **** pulling over on a trip just to look for a coffee or gas. HELP appreciated.

You have to use sync. All features are available.

Yes, lockpick. It is a plug and play module that will allow you to watch movies and use nav functions while driving.

I think the edge uses My touch not the one the F150 has but I guess it doesn't matter. lol

This is actually a Sirius feature and it allows you to look for points of interest while driving. After using mine on a recent 4,000 mile trip I found that I like it better than my Garmin or Tom Tom. But it took some playing with it to find how to get the features. Press the "i", then Travel Link. You'll see several useful options including fuel prices, weather map, POI, etc. I use all of them on my trip and they're simple and easy to use. POI feature doesn't have a search function but a pretty good database of restaurants, motels, gas stations, parks, etc.

The "services" part of sync is awesome, you can do specific business lookup on it, get the phone number, get the address, and system will dial the number or transfer the address to the nav unit. Very handy, plus if you get stuck you can get a live person on it to do your search for you, this a free service for up to 60calls a year.
